About Us > Our Mission

Mission Statement:

To enrich the quality of life for Finger Lakes residents, artists and visitors by providing opportunities for active participation in the arts.

Vision Statement:

To be the premier multi-arts center of our region.

The Arts Center of Yates County is a nonprofit community arts center whose mission is to enrich the lives of Yates County residents, artists and visitors by providing opportunities to actively participate in the arts.  The Center includes the Flick Gallery, which hosts eight to ten unique exhibits each year; the Rosenfeld Studio, where the bulk of the Center’s more than 100 creative workshops are held; and Sunny Point, a seasonal facility on the east side of Keuka Lake that includes housing for visiting instructors and artist residencies, a studio barn for workshops and events and a lakeside pottery studio.

The Arts Center is primarily a volunteer-driven organization with more than 60 active volunteers serving on the Board of Directors, a variety of committees, serving as docents in the Gallery, and organizing and supporting activities ranging from free exhibit openings at the Gallery to fundraising activities such as the annual chicken barbecue and summer ice cream social at Sunny Point to events like the Keuka Arts Festival and the Arts Center’s annual dinner.  The Center is funded by grants, memberships, donations, fees from workshops and commissions from the sale of art work and often partners with local businesses and other area nonprofits in developing programs and projects.  The Center’s artists are primarily drawn from Yates County and the surrounding region and are juried in in order to exhibit regularly.  The Flick Gallery is largely a visual arts facility displaying a broad mix of original art in mediums which include painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, woodwork and a variety of mixed media work.

The Arts Center of Yates County is open weekdays Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm in the winter and from 9 am to 3 pm during the summer months.   There is no admission fee.  Everyone is welcome to stop by and give art a try.
